Our Legacy

The Straughan Foundation started with the creation of the Isoleen Straughan Great Achievers Scholarship Program in 2020. The main goal being awarding scholarships to deserving, driven Belizean high school students. Each year The Great Achievers' Scholarship Committee strives to award as many qualified applicants.

This scholarship was named after, Isoleen Louise Straughan. An esteemed member of the Belizean society, Isoleen Louise Straughan who was ever committed to her life’s mission to teach and educate. From the young age of 15, when she started her teaching career and until her death, she made her mark on our society educating many, including some of the most influential minds who’ve shaped Belizean history. Isoleen Straughan (nee Harvey) was a great educator dedicating her life to her passion – teaching. In her honor, the Isoleen Straughan Great Achievers' Scholarship program seeks to assist those in our society who are yearning to learn and make their own marks.

Demand for scholarships continues to grow and we want to meet this need--something that can not be done without a bit of help from the community. Our recipients have shown so much determination and character, while our donors have shown so much generosity. All Sponsored donations are tax-exempt.
